About

Ehsan Moazen-Zadeh, MD, MSc
Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry

Dr. Moazen is a psychiatrist and trauma therapist with extensive experience treating mental health conditions that can lead to repetitive behaviors, distress, or avoidance. His clinical work includes trauma, OCD, tics, generalized anxiety, and anxiety related to physical symptoms, often alongside attention and executive-function difficulties. He approaches treatment with the belief that healing begins with connection, and he places the therapeutic relationship—built on trust, compassion, and collaboration—at the center of his work. He frequently works with neurodivergent clients and tailors care to each person’s emotional and psychological needs, honoring both their struggles and their strengths. He is committed to providing affirming care to LGBTQ2SIA+ clients and approaches each person with curiosity, respect, and attention to their unique story.

Dr. Moazen completed his psychiatry residency and postdoctoral fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital, with additional training in transgender psychiatry at Mount Sinai’s Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery, and Advanced Studies in Complex Trauma and Dissociation through the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD). His specialized training also includes EMDR through ISSTD, Prolonged Exposure (PE) at the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety at the University of Pennsylvania, Interpersonal Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at the William Alanson White Institute, and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) at the AEDP Institute.

Dr. Moazen is a faculty member at the Mount Sinai Hospital, where he teaches psychiatry residents and previously served as a Physician-Scientist Chief Resident. His research focuses on the treatment of psychiatric disorders and health disparities, and he has published more than 30 articles that have been cited over 1,000 times by fellow clinicians and researchers. He has served as a reviewer for leading psychiatry journals, including JAMA Psychiatry and The American Journal of Psychiatry, and he hosts Psych Minutes, a social media series that translates complex mental health topics into clear, evidence-based insights.
